About the productJapanese

This is a collection of works by Wolfgang Tillmans, a German photographer based in London and Germany, who won the Turner Prize, one of the most important awards in the contemporary art world, in 2000.
The subject of the photograph is Conor Donlon, the artist's former assistant and owner of the London bookstore Donlon Books.
The photos were taken over a period of 15 years and, through the eyes of his friend Donlon, are arranged in chronological order to portray the friendship between the two men, as well as London's lifestyle, cultural scene, and nightlife, as well as its evolution.

This book is the fourth in the same style that the author himself has worked on editorial design, following "CONCORDE," "FRUIT LOGISTICA" and "THE CARS."

"For many years I had been thinking about the possibility of making a monochromatic portrait book using photographs of my friends taken over a long period of time.
I finally had some time to work on it over Christmas and am very happy with the draft I produced for Connor Donlon.
The book follows a chronological period over a 15-year period and is not only a portrait of one man, but also of friendship, the city of London and the nightlife of a part of East London that no longer exists.
Haircuts, men's fashion....various elements like these emerge through the perspective of time. For example, if you say "The Ghetto," "Joiners Arms," or "George & Dragon," Londoners will know them, right? - Wolfgang Tillmans
