Anzai Mizumaru
Born in Tokyo (1942-2014). Graduated from the Department of Art and Design, Faculty of Art, Nihon University. After working as an art director at Dentsu, ADAC (a design studio in New York), and Heibonsha, he became a freelance illustrator and writer, serializing his work in magazines such as Takarajima and Garo. In 1979, he formed the Palette Club with Harada Osamu, Peter Sato, and Akiyama Iku. He has received numerous awards, including the Asahi Advertising Award, the Mainichi Advertising Award, the Kibun Delicious Illustration Exhibition Special Selection, the Japan Graphic Exhibition Annual Artist Excellence Award, and the Kinema Junpo Reader's Award. His main works include Amaryllis, Tokens in the Palm of the Hand, Pencil Drawing Landscapes, Rough Seaside, Blue Sky of Aoyama, Scarecrows of Atlanta, Crocodiles of Alabama, Melancholy Lullaby, Bird's Sister, The Fourth Aesthetic, I Want to Eat Melon, Fish Heartless but Water Heart, and Delicious or Nostalgic?
