Although Martin Margiela retired in 2008, he remains a powerful influence.

There are many designers who come from Margiela's design team, including current HERMES artistic director Nadège Vange-Cybulski, Sébastien Meunier of Ann Demeulemeester, and Demna Gvasalia of VETEMENTS.

Many people think of him as an anti-modern, avant-garde designer, but he also designed women's ready-to-wear for the long-established Maison HERMES between 1997 and 2003. The collection was highly praised for its distinctive style without compromising the elegance of HERMES.

A large-scale retrospective focusing on his six years with HERMES was held at the Antwerp Fashion Museum from March 31 to August 27, 2017. This photo book, published as the catalog for the exhibition, will be a fascinating read for fans of Margiela and Hermes alike.
