Enpei Ito's exhibition "Mushroom Spirits and Forest Friends vol.2" will be held from Saturday, October 26th. The storybook world of forest inhabitants such as mushrooms, owls, frogs, hedgehogs, and bagworms unfolds.
The Ito Enpei exhibition "Mushroom Spirits and Forest Friends Vol.2" will be held in the BOOK section (Japanese Culture) from Saturday, October 26th to Sunday, November 24th, 2024.
Enpei Ito grew up in the woods, the sea, and other places where he was exposed to nature and its creatures from an early age. He has been able to freely create story worlds and elevate them into his own unique style of expression. Based on painting and three-dimensional sculpture, his style is diverse, and in recent years he has also worked on spatial design for kindergartens and shrines.
Ito uses stone powder clay, which allows for detailed modeling, and applies thin layers of acrylic paint to give depth to the colors of the creatures, creating a sense of realism. While placing importance on cuteness and humor, he expresses the fundamental mystique that is inherent in life.
This exhibition is the second installment of the "Mushroom Spirits and Forest Friends" exhibition, which was well received at GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS last year. The exhibition will feature new three-dimensional works of the mushroom spirits' children (chibitake), frogs, hedgehogs, bagworms, and other new forest residents, centering on the owls often seen in the forests around the atelier. In addition, original T-shirts, postcards, and stickers with a mushroom spirit motif will be available this time, allowing you to enjoy the world of the story even more.
