[Edo Juku 7th Session]
Japanese people living with water
-A marine biologist and a water saint talk-
Japan is a maritime nation surrounded by the sea. It is also the country with the most abundant and beautiful water in the world. During the Edo period, overseas visitors unanimously praised Japan as a kingdom of water. The next emperor will be a scholar of water and plants, so it will be a wonderful theme for Japan to appeal to the world about the importance of coexistence between nature and humans. It is a theme that will provide a very valuable experience that will allow you to reexamine the "gratitude for water" that we tend to forget.
Water is the most important thing for humans to live. It makes up 60% of the human body and 70% of the surface of the planet Earth, but we tend to forget about water. Learning about water is the most important knowledge we need to know in order to survive in the future. Knowing the history and culture of water is very important for Japan. In fact, it is an indispensable and important theme for humans living on Earth, a planet of water. Over 90% of the water on Earth exists as seawater. We cannot talk about water without the sea. Here, let's think about water from the perspective of its relationship with people and the sea.
