GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS will be holding a fair to mark the brand debut of the lifestyle brand "Tsugu" from Saturday, June 3rd to Wednesday, July 13th.

"Tsugu" is a brand established by Lab&Design Inc. (Meguro-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Shirakata Hirofumi) in collaboration with traditional craft and industry studios and companies from all over Japan, with the aim of passing on Japan's traditional crafts and traditional industries to the next generation.
This fair will feature the first wave of products.

(The following is an excerpt from the "Tsugu" press release)
The first products, "Banryoku" and "Hoshikage", will be produced in collaboration with Oiso Towel Company, which also produces Imabari towels; "Niwatazumi" small plates from Kutani ware's Seikogama kiln; "Hotaru" and "Amanogawa" bowls from Yamanaka lacquerware's Shirasagi Mokko; and "Meguri", a set of 18 chopsticks made from Noto hiba cypress chopsticks processed in Wajima using the wiped lacquer technique. The project respects the high technical skills and traditions of the participating companies and will convey the beauty of traditional crafts to the younger generation and the world through designs that suit modern lifestyles.

Tsugu works as a platform to create products in collaboration with participating companies and workshops. We provide highly skilled and productive companies and workshops with designs that match the tone and size of modern interiors and lifestyles, while preserving the distinctive features of the traditional crafts and industrial products. We develop products that utilize each other's strengths for the benefit of each other, and share the profits. We created this platform to sustain, continue, and prosper Japan's traditional crafts and traditional industrial products.
