Artist Profile

Arne & Carlos

The design duo was founded in 2002 when Norwegian Arne Nerjordet and Swedish Carlos Zachrison met. They have an atelier in a former train station in Tønsåsen, Valdres, 180km north of Oslo, where they create their works.
The brand is known for its sophisticated designs that combine traditional Norwegian knitting patterns, Scandinavian folk art, and motifs inspired by nature, and is highly popular in Scandinavia, Europe, the United States, and Asia.
In 2008, a collaboration with Comme des Garcons led to the sale of limited edition products in Japan, which became a hot topic.
She then left the fashion world and published Julekuler in 2010.
The book became a bestseller in Norway, was translated into languages around the world, and sparked a global knitting boom.
To date, the following translated books have been published in Japanese by Nihon Vogue: "Nordic Garden Knits," "Arne & Carlos' Knitting Dolls," and "Arne & Carlos' Christmas Balls."
