GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS believes that "manga is one of the art forms that Japan should be proud of," and has been selling comics as a genre since its opening in 2017. This year, in its sixth year, the fair project will focus on the "creative background" that makes manga manga, and will attempt to consider the future of both "manga manuscripts" and "manga production."

In the "Future of Manga Manuscripts" section, Emily Yoshimoto has created a "Sugoroku game to consider life with manga manuscripts," which is an exhibit that considers the preservation and management of paper manga manuscripts. In the other section, "The Future of Manga Production," an exhibit is held that uses manga artist Junichiro Saito's "Shito Chofu" as an example to approach the "substance" that accompanies the creative process that takes place in three dimensions.

At the talk event to be held on (Tue), April 26th, in addition to Emily Yoshimoto and Saito Junichiro, guests will also be Emily Yoshimoto's father, manga artist Baron Yoshimoto, and Torch WEB editor-in-chief Nakagawa Atsushi.

The content of the fair delved deeper into each project, with the first part featuring a talk by Emily Yoshimoto about "life with manga manuscripts," and the second part featuring Baron Yoshimoto and Saito Junichiro, who each brought their own homemade fillings and tried out sandwiches and tacos.
While eating the sandwiches Baron style or JUN style, they will talk about their future creations and memories of America.

We look forward to your participation!

*This event will be held via online streaming.
