GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS Art Book Floor 2024年11月08日(金) - 12月07日(土)
To commemorate the publication of Takato Yamamoto's collection of works, "Sairo Gacho" (published by Geijutsu Shinbunsha), which will be released on Monday, October 28th, a publication commemorative exhibition will be held on the art book floor of the store from Friday, November 8th to Saturday, December 7th.

[Exhibition overview and new publications]
Influenced by late 19th century art and ukiyo-e, Takato Yamamoto has been using a unique technique that fuses the flat and delicate touch of Japanese painting to create what he calls the "Heisei aestheticism" style, depicting the fantastical aesthetic of beautiful young boys and girls. In addition to being commissioned to create cover art and illustrations for books and theater pamphlets, he continues to be highly active, presenting original works in art books and solo exhibitions.

The production process is unique. First, a rough sketch is drawn, and then a preliminary sketch is made based on the rough sketch. Next, the entire back side of the preliminary sketch paper is painted with a pencil, and the preliminary sketch and the final paper are placed on top of each other, tracing the lines of the preliminary sketch and transferring the traced lines to the final paper. Then, for the final work, the lines are drawn with a face brush and pen, and colored with Liquitex paints to complete the work. In total, it takes four drawings to create one piece of work.

The new book "Sairogacho" is a book that allows you to experience this process a little. Trace the sketch that has already been drawn, and then you can paint it exactly the same as the actual painting, or you can paint it freely. Complete your own unique work.

This exhibition will also feature original canvas paintings and sketches (including new works) for sale. Please enjoy Takato Yamamoto's creative world to your heart's content.
