Art
In front of the information counter GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS 2023年09月16日(土) - 09月29日(金)
A solo exhibition by artist Mitsuru Koga, who expresses what cannot be seen or expressed by humans, will be held in front of GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS information counter from Saturday, September 16th to Friday, September 29th.

Mitsuru Koga continues to pursue "space and existence" through detailed monochrome pencil depictions.
After continuing to explore the same theme with "Filters of Memory and Existence" and "Superobjects," his latest work focuses on the boundaries created by "recognition," based on the idea that "birds, bees, pencil sharpeners, clocks, binoculars, voltmeters, apples, and music boxes are all originally one, yet many."

[Artist Statement]
When people perceive things, they have the illusion that they are constantly receiving the latest information. Since we are perceiving materials that exist in the same space, we are unlikely to suspect that the state in which we are sharing the same time is a different state. However, when one being perceives another being, a time difference occurs between the two, although it is so minute that it cannot be felt.
In other words, the object that a person is currently perceiving is information from a slightly past time. And the most recent information is only known to the object itself.
Beings (themselves) always perceive the past information of other beings and replace it with the present, under the illusion that the object exists on the same timeline. Beings, including the self perceived by others, are covered by many layers of filters in order to obtain the latest information for themselves above all else. Everything we perceive is covered by many layers of filters.
This filter allows us to only perceive an object's past information.
Objects exist before our eyes through our perception, as the latest information is predicted and constructed based on the past information collected in this way.
I want to know what the latest information is about the subject in front of me.
