[Fair] Hiroshi Nagai "A LONG VACATION - SUMMER"

To commemorate the publication of Hiroshi Nagai's canvas giclee prints, GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS will be holding a fair where three types of canvas giclées will be exhibited and available for pre-order, as well as a selection of carefully selected items such as fabric items and record players, as well as a collection of Hiroshi Nagai's works.

 

Artist Hiroshi Nagai has been active since the 70s, working on the cover art for timeless classics that continue to be loved by many, as well as numerous advertisements. Since taking the world by storm with his cover art for the classic album "A LONG VACATION," Nagai has been consistently working up to the present day, but his work has been particularly remarkable in the past few years, as he has expanded the scope of his work by collaborating with the next generation of talent, participating in numerous exhibitions both in Japan and overseas, as well as collaborating with Uniqlo's UT, Marunouchi KITTE, Paul Smith, Hebel Haus, and Manhattan Portage.

 

Three types of canvas giclee prints hand-signed by Nagai Hiroshi, a first for him, will be released for a limited time this summer by Fukankan.com, which has published many of Nagai Hiroshi's collections, with the cooperation of Kinyosha Publishing Co., Ltd.

 

To commemorate the release of the canvas giclee prints, we will be exhibiting and pre-ordering three types of canvas giclee prints, as well as offering a selection of items such as a collaboration item with Manhattan Portage, a record player, and a collection of works by Hiroshi Nagai.

A LONG VACATION

The title is familiar from the famous album by Eiichi Ohtaki, released in March 1981. The illustration on the cover is already a classic masterpiece, one of the most representative CITY POP albums.
This representative piece by Nagai Hiroshi has been used in numerous media, including Uniqlo UT 2022, and is also used on the cover of his latest best-of print collection, "THE JOURNEY BEGINS."

On the other side, a white, modern house stands there, quietly exuding its presence. A sense of Japanese beauty in an American landscape.
The contrast between the blue of the sky and the blue of the water is a major highlight of this work, and although the picture is simple, it allows you to fully experience the charm of Nagai Hiroshi.

Hiroshi Nagai
Born on December 22, 1947 in Tokushima City.
After working as a graphic designer, he became a freelance illustrator in 1978. His record jackets and advertising visuals for Eiichi Ohtaki's "A LONG VACATION" and "NIAGARA SONG BOOK" are still talked about today, and he continues to create universally loved works. He is also active in a wide range of fields, including DJing and music criticism.
