A special exhibition titled "Birds: New bird lineages revealed by genome analysis" will be held at the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno Park, Tokyo from Saturday, November 2 (Sat), February 24, 2025 (holiday).
To commemorate this, we will be holding a book fair filled with bird-related items, from bird encyclopedias and specialist magazines to picture books and manga about birds, and even bird trivia.
Welcome to the Sanctuary! See all the birds you'll ever see!
A first for the National Museum of Nature and Science! What is the special exhibition "Birds"?
Birds occupy an important position in ecosystems. The National Museum's first bird-themed special exhibition, "Birds," introduces the origins of birds and their evolutionary process, and also displays many valuable bird specimens based on the evolutionary lineage hypothesis unraveled by the latest research using genome analysis. The "Secrets of Birds" corner provides detailed explanations on 23 themes, including the sex selection of birds and unknown cognitive abilities.
The official exhibition catalogue and original merchandise will also be on sale at the fair.
