[Event & Online Streaming (Zoom)] To celebrate the publication of "No Words Needed?" (Sogensha) and "How AI Writes Tanka" (Kodansha), a talk event between Tetsuya Furuta and Michi Urakawa entitled "Words that Feel Right: Tanka Unique to Me/You -- 'Living Words' and AI"
Humanities
TSUTAYA BOOKS Building 3, 2nd floor event space / ZOOM distribution 2024年 12月13日(金)
This event will be held both offline (at DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS) and online.
Urakawa Toru's "How AI Writes Tanka Poems" (Kodansha Gendai Shinsho) is a book that explores the value of a human feeling something and deliberately putting into words what cannot be expressed in words, how to interact with AI, and what it means to create a tanka poem that is unique to oneself, as well as the relationship between humans and language, as it develops tanka AI.
Tetsuya Furuta's "I Don't Need Words? Between Me and the World" (Sogensha) is the latest book by Furuta, who has been discussing words in his books such as "The Philosophy of the Soul of Words" (Kodansha Metier). Are words a "media" that connects me with people/the world, or are they a "barrier"? By delving deeply into this question, this book clarifies what it means to weave words in the first place and explains how we who live in the modern age should deal with words, and is aimed at everyone over the age of 10.
Although Urakawa's efforts and Furuta's exploration seem to be completely different approaches, in fact, both seem to be searches for "words that fit" and the pleasure of the richness of words. This is the first interview between the two people who deal with such "words". They will talk in depth about the search for "words that fit/tanka that is unique to me/you" and "enjoying words", and how we who live in modern society deal with words and AI.
