[Event & Online Streaming (Zoom)] Talk event to celebrate the publication of "Full Tracking Princess" (Shoshi Kankanbo) Kazuhiro Ikeya x Hiroki Yamano "Living the <Life> of Others -- Language Arts in the Digital Age"
Humanities
DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS Building 3, 2nd floor SHARE LOUNGE event space / ZOOM broadcast 2024年 06月11日(火)
"Full Tracking Princess" by Kazuhiro Ikeya
-- Utsui, who works at a production company that handles video and 3D CG, has a long day. What would be the best application to remind him to dry himself off with a bath towel tonight? Is the "Yu-kyu" his boss is talking about "paid leave" or "paid vacation"? After finishing work, he logs into "Princessizer." He interacts with princesses stationed at each station along the Keio Line in social VR, which allows him to travel between virtual space systems. (From the introduction to "Full Tracking Princessizer")
A talk event will be held to commemorate the publication of the book, which includes the title work "Full Tracking Princesizer," which won the 5th Kotoba to Newcomer Award, as well as "Membrane Prompter," which depicts the story one year later, and "Change Invoice," which depicts the characters' school days.
Our guest will be Hiroki Yamano, a philosophy researcher specializing in the thought of Paul Ricoeur and the cultural practices of VTubers.
How did Yamano interpret "Full Tracking Princess," which was described by the selection committee as a "realist novel" even though it depicts a scene in a virtual space? From Yamano's perspective, he will raise issues about the writing style surrounding the perception of the protagonist Utsui, regarding the virtual world depicted as part of everyday life experiences.
In a digital age where generative AI and the metaverse are rapidly becoming more prevalent, how is it possible to live someone else's life? Listen to their live conversation.
This event will be held both offline (at DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS) and online.
