[Event] Talk event to celebrate the publication of "The Courage to Be Foolish" by Ikeda Chikao

Work Style
UMEDA TSUTAYA BOOKS SHARE LOUNGE "Sky Area" 2024年 02月13日(火)
We will be asking bamboo lantern performer Chikao Ikeda, author of the new book "The Courage to Be Foolish" - 29 Ways to Ignore Capitalism and Become Rich - and Kenta Nagakura, who helped plan and edit the book, to share their thoughts and ideas that they were unable to fit into the book.
He appeared on "Jonetsu Tairiku" in November last year and is currently a hot topic. Even if people around you say it's a stupid challenge, you can make your dreams come true and enjoy life even if you don't have money. The author's way of life, which teaches us what "richness" is, has saved many people.

<Recommended for these people>
・I can't move because I think too much
I can't imagine a happy future
I long for a free life
I'm unsure about my future life
・I want to try things I want to do

If you are even slightly concerned,
Please come to the venue!

Chikao Ikeda
Bamboo Light Performance Director
Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1982. In 2007, he founded "CHIKAKEN," a company that produces and produces "bamboo lanterns," together with Kenji Miki. Based on the idea of "festival-style urban development," he creates bamboo lantern objects, connecting "people and people, people and towns, and people and nature," and weaving a landscape that is unique to that place. He aims to make a series of environmentally circulating works of art, and to pass on "bamboo lanterns" as a new Japanese "culture." He uses bamboo, which has overgrown mainly in Kyushu and is known as "bamboo damage," to create lantern objects and return them to the soil as works of art, and aims to pass on "bamboo lanterns" as a new Japanese culture. He has been involved in the "Kumamoto Life People Festival Water Light" since 2007, and with a total of more than 6,000 volunteers every year, it has become a seasonal feature of autumn in Kumamoto, attracting 180,000 visitors. At the G7 Ise-Shima Summit held in May 2016, he directed the dinner venue for the spouses' program. Bamboo lanterns are also a souvenir for the spouse of the prime minister. In order to spread the word about "bamboo lanterns," they collaborate with local communities to create festivals all over Japan and the world. In 2019, they were selected as an advisor for regional creativity by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. They have been featured in many media appearances, including on MBS's "Jonetsu Tairiku," Nippon Television's "Mirai Theater," BS Fuji's "A Drop Beyond," and TV Tokyo's "Schools Don't Teach You Things Like That."
