-An invitation to Shindo Ito of Kurobe, Japan's last frontier-
If you know anything about Ito Shindo, you must be a big mountain lover.
The sixth recommendation for this trip is a zine that any mountain lover will definitely want.

In the summer of 2023, Ito Shindo, the shortest route to the deepest part of Kurobe, will be reopened after approximately 40 years.
This route was originally opened in 1956 after 10 years by Shoichi Ito (author of the famous book "Kurobe no Sanzoku"), the owner of the Mimata Sanso lodge, but it subsequently fell into disrepair and became impassable.
His son, Kei Ito, took the lead in reviving it.
The route's unique feature is that it is not a hike on a footpath built into the valley, nor is it like climbing an untouched gorge; you are free to walk anywhere and the route is well maintained, meaning it offers both freedom and risk.
