Goldfish have been loved by the common people since the Edo period, as depicted in many ukiyo-e prints. This time, the nationally touring exhibition "Kingyo Bisho 2024" is collaborating with GINZA TSUTAYA BOOKS to bring goldfish artworks and goods by 10 artists who are also exhibiting in the exhibition to Ginza, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of the exhibition.
"Kingyo Bisho" is a coined term coined by contemporary artist and goldfish painter Ryusuke Fukahori, meaning "scooping up the beauty of goldfish." At this fair, we will exhibit and sell a variety of fascinating "goldfish" that make full use of various techniques and expressions, such as paintings, illustrations, and paper cuttings, three-dimensional works using felt, and contemporary art works using mixed media.
The "Kingyo Bisho" exhibition supervised by Fukahori was first held at the Kanazawa 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in 2017, and after two exhibitions, this year it will travel to Kanazawa and Mie as the "Kingyo Bisho 2024" exhibition. It is also scheduled to be held at the Okuda Genso and Sayume Museum of Art in Miyoshi City, Hiroshima Prefecture from September 5th (Thursday) to October 22nd (Tuesday).
