田名網 敬一 (たなあみ けいいち)
1936年東京生まれ、武蔵野美術大学を卒業。グラフィックデザイナーとして、イラストレーターとして、そしてアーティストとして、メディアやジャンルに捕われず、アニメーション作品からシルクスクリーン、漫画的なイラストレーション、コラージュ、実験映画、ペインティング、立体作品と、むしろその境界を積極的に横断して創作活動を続けてきた孤高のアーティスト。
60年代半ばに、サイケデリックカルチャー及びポップアートの洗礼を受け、特に60年代のアンディウォーホルとの出会い以降、現在に至るまで「編集」というデザインの方法論を用いながら、「アートとデザイン」、「アートと商品」、「日常と美の関係」といった今日の現代美術が抱える主要な問題に対して実験的な挑戦を試み続けている。

近年の主要な展覧会としては、個展「No More War」(Schinkel Pavillon、ベルリン、2012)、個展「KILLER JOE'S (1965-1975)」(Fondation Speerstra、スイス、2013)、グループ展「Ausweitung der Kampfzone: Die Sammlung 1968 - 2000」(ベルリン新国立美術館、2013)の他、ポップアートの大回顧展「International Pop」(Walker Art Center、Dallas Museum of Art、Philadelphia Museum of Art 、アメリカ、2015-2016)及び「The World Goes Pop」(Tate Modern、イギリス、2015)、「Oliver Payne and Keiichi Tanaami」(Hammer Museum、アメリカ、2017)など多数。また、MoMA(アメリカ)、Walker Art Center(アメリカ)、The Art Institute of Chicago(アメリカ)、M+ Museum for Visual Culture(香港)、National Portrait Gallery(アメリカ)、Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof (ドイツ)といった世界中の著名美術館が、近年新たに田名網作品の収蔵をしており、その国際的な評価は日々高まっている。

Keiichi Tanaami was born in Tokyo in 1936 and graduated from Musashino Art University. An artist of another breed, he has been active in graphic design, illustration, and fine arts since the 1950s, never heeding the boundaries of mediums or genres but instead aggressively traversing them.
From the mid-’60s, he broadened his range of work to include animation, silkscreen, cartoon-like illustration, collage, experimental film, painting, and sculpture, which he continues to this day. He was particularly inspired by the experience of meeting Andy Warhol in the ’60s, and to this day utilizes the design technique of compilation as he takes on experimental approaches in challenging the dominant problems that exist within the contemporary art world such as art and design, art and product, and the relationship between the everyday and the beautiful.

The artist's recent major exhibitions include the solo exhibition No More War (Schinkel Pavilion, Berlin), and group exhibitions Ausweitung der Kampfzone: Die Sammlung 1968 - 2000 (Berlin State Museums, 2013), International Pop (Walker Art Center, Dallas Museum of Art, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, 2015), The World Goes Pop (Tate Modern, 2015), Unorthodox (Jewish Museum, New York), Oliver Payne and Keiichi Tanaami (Hammer Museum, 2017)etc.  Also recent museum acquisition includes following major institutions such as MoMA (US), Walker Art Center (US), The Art Institute of Chicago(US), M+ Museum for Visual Culture (HK), and National Portrait Gallery (US), Nationalgalerie im Hamburger Bahnhof etc.
