This brand is created by its representative designer, Aiko Miyamoto.
When Aiko Miyamoto visited India for the first time, she encountered woodblock printing.
It is a printing technique in which a woodblock is carved using dozens of tools, and dye is applied and pressed one by one. It is very time-consuming and laborious, but the misalignment of the patterns and uneven coloring that are unique to this technique give it the "warmth of human handiwork."
At Kapuwa, we design patterns with the assumption that we will use this woodblock printing technique, and then have the original blocks carved locally.
We create clothes with a focus on comfortable shapes and using Indian materials.
Kapuwa's original fabrics are created by Japanese contemporary design and Indian traditional block printing on high quality Indian materials.
Our clothing has a comfy and relaxed fit.
