A new edition of "TOKYO STYLE," a collection of works by Kyoichi Tsuzuki, a writer, editor, and photographer, will be published by the Barcelona-based Spanish publisher "APARTAMENTO." To commemorate the publication of this book, DAIKANYAMA TSUTAYA BOOKS will hold a fair from Monday, (Mon) 5th, and a talk event on (Thu), August 22nd. During the talk, Tsuzuki will talk about places outside of Tokyo, such as the Kansai region, where he has recently been interviewed and photographed, and Shanghai, China, as well as the status of the rooms photographed in "TOKYO STYLE," as well as various other stories derived from this book, such as what "TOKYO STYLE" is like in 2024. More than 30 years after its first edition, the cult classic and iconic collector's item, "Tokyo Style" is back in a new edition. This timeless photobook offers an intimate and candid look at Tokyo's truly inhabited homes. The new edition retains the lavish layout of the first edition, but with a fresh binding. A selection of the book's iconic images is presented, followed by a newly written afterword from the author, which concludes the book by highlighting the nostalgia evoked by the work's richly self-expressive analogue world. Barry Yourgrau, a longtime friend of the author and US-based writer, has contributed a foreword, in which he muses on Tokyo's "messy and terribly cluttered" hideaways, filled with "the smutty and the quirky, the funky and the kawaii."

This book invites readers into the everyday life of one of the world's great cities and offers a template for how we can live more in touch with ourselves and our communities. "Come on, have a seat," the author beckons. "This kind of life isn't so bad."

都築 響一 (つづき・きょういち)
1956年東京生まれ。ポパイ、ブルータス誌の編集を経て、全102巻の現代美術全集『アート・ランダム』(京都書院)を刊行。以来現代美術、建築、写真、デザインなどの分野での執筆・編集活動を続けている。93年『TOKYO STYLE』刊行(京都書院、のちちくま文庫)。96年刊行の『ROADSIDE JAPAN 珍日本紀行』(アスペクト、のちちくま文庫)で、第23回木村伊兵衛賞を受賞。その他『賃貸宇宙UNIVERSE forRENT』(ちくま文庫)、『現代美術場外乱闘』(洋泉社)『珍世界紀行ヨーロッパ編』『夜露死苦現代詩』『珍日本超老伝』(ちくま文庫)『ROADSIDE USA 珍世界紀行アメリカ編』(アスペクト)『東京スナック飲みある記』(ミリオン出版)『東京右半分』(筑摩書房)『圏外編集者』(朝日出版)など著書多数。2012年より個人で有料メールマガジン『ROADSIDERS' weekly』を毎週水曜日に配信中(http://www.roadsiders.com/)。
