[Fair] Narrative of Osamu Yokonami
Art
TSUTAYA BOOKS No. 2, 1st floor, Book Floor 2021年07月22日(木) - 08月12日(木)
PPF Magazine explores the past and present of "people, events, and things that should be passed down" and their future. The inaugural preparatory issue, vol. 00, "Special Feature: How did Keisuke Baba have fun?", attracted attention for its systematic look at one person. This book, which is the inaugural issue, vol. 01, features photographer Osamu Yokonami.
Yokonami is a photographer who has been highly praised both in Japan and overseas for his work in magazines and advertisements, as well as for his own personal work. He is also known for his unique sensibility in the relationships he has with his assistants, and for having helped many of his excellent students become independent.
The book asks the students who have studied under him and shared joys and sorrows with him to express their master through photography, and then collects the "narratives" they heard about him and publishes them along with their photographs. It also includes photos of Yokonami himself as an answer to those stories, making it a book that allows readers to see "Osamu Yokonami" from many different angles.
The fair will also feature original prints and photo T-shirts created to commemorate the publication of this book.
In addition, an online talk event will be held on July 29th!
Moderated by PPF Magazine Editor-in-Chief Yuki Nagano, we will invite Osamu Yokonami himself and his protégés, photographer Keisuke Kitamura and Shohei Takenaka, to explore another "narrative."
